What We Believe

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

  1. The Word of God – We believe the Bible is God’s only written word. The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God.The Scriptures are complete and sufficient and are the sole authority for faith and practice in the Believer’s relationship with God (Psalm119:160; Psalm 12:6-7; Proverbs 30:5a; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

  2. The Trinity - We believe that there is one loving and true God, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit equal in power and glory. We believe that the Trinity created all, upholds all and governs all things (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; Hebrews 1:3).

  3. God the Father – We believe in the Person of God the Father—perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayers and saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 90:2, Psalm 102:27; John 3:16, John 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3).

  4. The Person and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ – The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Triune God.Jesus is God in the flesh, the “God Man” begotten of the Holy Spirit, was born of the Virgin Mary, was tempted as we are, yet without sin. Jesus became man without ceasing to be God.Being the perfect “Lamb of God,” He freely gave His life to redeem the sins of man. He gave Himself in death on the Cross as a substitutionary sacrifice, arose from the grave conquering death and ascended into Heaven as the Intercessor and the Advocate before the Father for all those that will receive Him as Savior. He, Jesus, is the only way by which anyone can go to Heaven (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1; John 1:14; John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Galatians 4:4-5; Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:6-10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-7; Hebrews 4:14-17; 1 John 2:1-2).

  5. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit – The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is the third divine Person of the Triune God.The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. He regenerates, indwells, seals, anoints and baptizes all Believers into the Body of Christ at the moment of Salvation. He is the divine Teacher who guides Believers into all truth; and, it is the privilege and duty of all Believers to be filled with the Spirit (John 3:5; John 14:16-17, 26; John 16:7-14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 3:6, 18; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 5:18; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2).

  6. Mankind – Man was created in the image and likeness of God.By choice man sinned and disobeyed God and is, by inherited nature, born in sin and sinful. Being born in sin, man is alienated from a relationship with God and is under the condemnation of God with no means of Salvation within himself. Only the grace of God can bring man into a right relationship with a Holy God (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6; Psalm 51:5; Psalm 58:3; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 3:11).

  7. Salvation by Grace through Faith – God loves man enough “in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Man’s salvation/redemption was purchased by the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.Christ paid the sin debt for man by his vicarious death.Man’s only obligation is to admit his helplessness in his sin nature, repent of his sins and by faith trust solely in the finished work of the Cross and the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Salvation cannot be earned; it is the “gift of God” brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Those that trust in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ are “sealed unto the day of redemption.”We also believe that the true Believer is eternally secure and cannot lose their salvation (John 1:12; John 3:8; John 3:14; John 3:16; John 6:36-40; John 10:28-29; Romans 8:1; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Galatians 3:24-26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians 1:6; Titus 3:5; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 5:11-13; Revelation 22:17).

  8. Gender Roles and Gender Differentiation – We believe in the pattern and principle of male leadership and responsibility in both the home and the Church. We believe this limits the roles of pastoral leadership and doctrinal authority to qualified men. We believe that God created mankind male and female. Men and women are both created in the image of God and as such are equal in value, dignity and worth, but different in function so as to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. Therefore, we perform marriages in accordance with the Bible consistent with the Old and New Testament precepts (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; John 4:16-18; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 5:11; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 18-20; 1 Corinthians 7:1-3, 8-9; 1 Corinthians 11:1-12; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3-7; 1 Timothy 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 2:1-15).

  9. Church – The Bible teaches that the Church is the Body of Christ made up of all born-again Believers worldwide. The Bible teaches the assembling together of born-again baptized Believers that worship the Lord in Spirit and truth in unity and harmony and without confusion (Acts 2:38; Acts 16:30-33; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23).

  10. Ordinances – We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: (1) full-emersion water baptism of Believers in the Gospel; and, (2) the Lord’s Supper (or Communion) (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

  11. Eternity – We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. All those who place their faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ will spend Eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of Salvation proclaimed in the Gospel will spend Eternity separated from God and His people in Hell (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 5:3, 22; Matthew 18:9; Matthew 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; Luke 12:5; John 3:18; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Peter 1:4; Revelation 14:10-11; Revelation 20:11-15).

  12. Second Coming of Christ – We believe the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be a personal and visible return to earth. The Second Coming will precipitate the establishment of His Millennial Kingdom, the Resurrection, the Final Judgment, eternal blessing of the righteous and eternal condemnation of the wicked (Matthew 16:27; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16; Revelation 20:11-15).
